CAN Bus. Controller Area Network is a vehicle bus standard designed to allow microcontrollers and devices to communicate
with each other within a vehicle without a host computer.
Cold Boot. A cold boot restarts the vehicle computer and erases all user stored records and entries.
COM port. Communication port; ports are identified by number, e.g., COM1, COM2.
D
DDR2. Double data rate synchronous dynamic random-access memory interface. Memory type that DDR2 allows higher
bus speed and requires lower power.

EMDK. Enterprise Mobility Developer's Kit.
EMMC. Embedded Multi Media Card. NAND Flash memory and controller with multimedia card interface.
ESD. Electro-Static Discharge.

Flash Memory. Flash memory is nonvolatile, semi-permanent storage that can be electronically erased in the circuit and
reprogrammed. The vehicle computers use Flash memory to store the operating system, and the vehicle computer
emulators.

Hard Reset. See Cold Boot.
HID. USB human interface device class (USB HID class) is a part of the USB specification for computer peripherals. It
specifies a type of computer hardware for human interface devices such as Laser scanners, Imagers, keyboards or
mouse devices. The same HID protocol is used unmodified in Bluetooth human interface devices.[2] The Bluetooth
profile specification only points readers to the USB HID documentation. In this sense those devices also belong to the
USB HID class.
Hz. Hertz; A unit of frequency equal to one cycle per second.
Host Computer. A computer that serves other vehicle computers in a network, providing such services as computation,
database access, supervisory programs and network control.
