Forward gear

1. Install the bearing housing puller onto
the bearing housing and then engage
the center bolt with the propeller shaft
as shown.

Center bolt:
5 Nm (0.5 m • kg, 3.6 ft • lb)
Bearing housing puller:
YB-06207/90890-06502
Universal puller:
YB-6117
Stopper guide plate:
90890-06501
Center bolt:
90890-06504
2. Slowly turn the drive shaft clockwise
and counterclockwise and record the
dial gauge's reading when the drive
shaft stops in each direction.
3. Determine the shim size according to
the following chart.
Forward gear
backlash
Less than
0.13 mm
(0.005 in)
0.13 ~ 0.46 mm
(0.005 ~ 0.018 in)
More than
0.46 mm
(0.018 in)
6-30
Decrease or increase
Thickness of shim to
be decreased (mm) =
(0.30 – measurement)
× 0.60
No adjustment is
needed.
Thickness of shim to
be increased (mm) =
(measurement – 0.30)
× 0.60
