17.10 No Parallel
Communication
Intermec EasyCoder 601 XP – Service Manual Ed. 2
Description:
The following actions are valid for the parallel "Centronics"
interface board. Also see chapter 17.8.
Possible Causes and Suggested Remedies:
• Wrong type of Centronics communication selected.
- There are three types of Centronics communication, which are
selected by means of the Fingerprint instruction SYSVAR(25),
see Intermec Fingerprint 7.12 Reference Manual. Verify that
the printer is set for the same type as the host.
• Host does not set SELECT IN signal low (applies to non-
modified Centronics interface pcb 1-971603-26 and 1-971603-
27 only).
- See edition 1 of this manual for instructions how to modify old
Centronics interface boards.
• Damaged interface board or cable.
- Replace the parallel interface board with another one which
is positively working in other printers and try again. If the
interface board seems to be damaged, replace it. Do not
attempt to repair a damaged interface board.
• Wrong std IN channel selected in custom-made program.
- Verify that the Centronics communication port is selected as
standard IN channel.
