WARNING
Electrical Shock Hazard
Disconnect power before servicing.
Replace all parts and panels before
operating.
Failure to do so can result in death or
electrical shock.
NOTE: Units are to be inspected and serviced
by qualified Whirlpool service personnel only.
1.
Clean the unit air intake filter after 300 to
350 hours of operation with a mild deter-
gent in warm water. Allow the filter to dry
thoroughly before reinstalling it.
2.
The indoor (evaporator) coil, the outdoor
(condenser) coil, and base pan should be
inspected periodically (every 6 to 12
months), and cleaned of all debris (lint,
dirt, leaves, paper, etc.). Clean the coils
and base pan with a soft brush and com-
pressed air, or vacuum.
If you use a pressure washer, be careful
not to bend the aluminum fin pack. Use an
up and down sweeping motion in the di-
rection of the vertical aluminum fin pack.
Cover all electrical components to protect
them from water. Allow the unit to dry
thoroughly,
3.
Inspect all gasket material for deteriora-
tion.
IMPORTANT: Do not use a caustic coil clean-
ing agent on the coils or base pan. Use only
a biodegradable cleaning agent.

4.
Before reinstalling the chassis in the sleeve,
inspect the indoor blower housing, the
blower wheel, condenser fan blade, and
condenser shroud periodically (every 6 to
12 months). Remove all debris (lint, dirt,
mold, fungus, etc.)
5.
Clean the blower housing area and blower
wheel with an antibacterial / antifungal
cleaner.
6.
Use a biodegradable cleaning agent and
degreaser on the condenser fan and con-
denser shroud. Use warm or cold water
when rinsing these items, and allow them
to dry thoroughly before reinstalling them.
7.
Periodically (every 6 to 12 months) in-
spect all control components, both electri-
cal and mechanical, as well as the power
supply. Use the proper testing instruments
(voltmeter, ohmmeter, ammeter, wattme-
ter, etc.) to perform any electrical tests.
8.
Use an air conditioning or refrigeration
thermometer to check room, outdoor, and
coil operating temperatures. Use a sling
psychrometer to measure wet bulb tem-
peratures indoors and outdoors.
9.
Inspect the inside and outside surround-
ing areas to ensure that the unit clear-
ances have not been compromised or
altered.
10. Inspect the wall sleeve and drain system
periodically (every 6 to 12 months) and
clean them of all obstructions and debris.
Clean both areas with an antibacterial and
antifungal cleaner, and rinse both items
thoroughly with water. Make sure that the
drain outlets are operating correctly. Check
the sealant around the sleeve and reseal
any areas, as needed.
11. Clean the front cover with a mild detergent
and warm water, and allow it to dry thor-
oughly before installing it in the chassis.
