Electrical Shock Hazard
Disconnect power before servicing.
Replace all parts and panels before
operating.
Failure to do so can result in death or
electrical shock.
1.
Unplug air conditioner or disconnect power.
2.
Remove the unit from the wall sleeve (see
pages 2-10 and 2-11 for the procedure).
3.
Braze on an access valve and discharge
the sealed system refrigerant into an ap-
proved recovery system.
4.
Remove the two hex-head screws from
each of the condenser fan shroud mount-
ing brackets and remove the brackets
(see the photo at the top of the right
column).
5.
Remove the remaining three hex-head
screws from the condenser shroud (1 bot-
tom and 2 side screws).
6.
Tilt the top of the condenser fan shroud
forward and pull it away from the con-
denser just far enough to protect it from
the brazing heat.

7.
Pull the defrost thermostat sensing bulb
from the condenser and move it out of the
way.
8.
Remove the two condenser hex-head
screws from the chassis pan.
