Using the ColorPASS hard disk drive

Be sure to back up your original data on your own media at the same time you store
and save data on the ColorPASS hard disk drive. Never damage the ColorPASS hard
disk drive. Do not turn off the system while accessing the ColorPASS hard disk drive.
For instructions on how to turn on and shut down the ColorPASS, see
"Starting and
shutting down the ColorPASS"
on page 7-16.
If the ColorPASS hard disk drive or system software experiences technical difficulties,
data stored and saved on the ColorPASS hard disk might be irretrievably lost.
Extended storage of the following data on your ColorPASS hard disk drive cannot be
assured if unexpected events occur:
• Third party fonts installed on ColorPASS hard disk drive
• Print jobs stored on the ColorPASS hard disk drive
• Color profiles, including profiles downloaded or edited using Spot-On
®
• Job notes and instructions
• Scanned image data
• Jobs edited with DocBuilder Pro
• Variable data documents
• E-mail Service Address Book
• Hot Folder settings when Hot Folder is installed on the ColorPASS hard disk drive
• ColorPASS configuration information that lists all the settings in effect from the
current system setup
You can restore the system on the ColorPASS hard disk drive should anything happen
to the print server hard disk drive. However, system settings that were changed or
specified prior to hard disk drive breakdown will not be restored. Also, the E-mail
Service Address Book or Hot Folder settings will be lost when the system is restored or
if the ColorPASS hard disk drive is replaced with a new one.
