Setting the Switch Login Password
The password command, in Global Configuration mode, creates/changes the switch login
password.
To enter View mode, when the switch is logged off, enter the password at the "Password:" prompt.
By default, there is no login password.
The no form removes the previously configured password i.e. the no form reestablishes the default
way of logging.
Command Syntax
device-name(config)#password PASSWORD CONFIRM-PASSWORD
device-name(config)#no password
Setup
If the user encounters problems in gaining access using the passwords, please
contact Technical Support department.

Description
Creates/changes the switch login password.
Sets a password to access Privileged (Enable) mode from View
mode.
Changes the loader password.
Enables notification to the user when the Caps Lock key is on
while changing or typing the password.
Adds a username and an associated password to the local
authentication database.
