Creating a Static Route

The ip route command, in Global Configuration mode, defines a static route. The no form of this
command removes the specified static route.
If the user does not need to forward the traffic to specific destinations without match, the user can
apply a less specific route entry to the NULL device. To globally disable the gratuitous forwarding
for destinations that are missing from the routing table, the user can apply a default routing entry to
the NULL device.
By default, the administrative distance is 1.
Command Syntax
device-name(config)#ip route {destination-address netmask |
destination-prefix} {A.B.C.D | null} [<distance>]
device-name(config)#no ip route {destination-address netmask |
destination-prefix} {A.B.C.D | null} [<distance>]
