Body's main components are the hopper (see Figure 1-3), the pendulum packer (see Figure 1-3), the
tailgate (see Figure 1-4), and the swing arms and forks (see Figure 1-4).
The hopper is the area of the body where the food waste is dumped. The pendulum packer is the
piece of equipment that pushes the waste into the body. The tailgate is the rear door that prevents
food waste from exiting the body during collection. At a landfill, the tailgate is raised to enable the
discharge of the waste.
