IGNITION COil
Chec king with electro te s ter
• Remove t he ign ition coil from the frame .
Test the ignition coil for sparking performance. The test con-
nect ion is as indica ted. M ake su re t hat th e three- need le
spa rki ng distance is at leas t 8 m m. If no sp arking or orange
color spa rking occurs wi th th is mu ch gap , th en it is d efec-
tive and must be replalced.
STD Spark performance : 8 mm (0 .3 in)

Primary (Terminal-Ground) : 0 .1
- 1 .0

Secondary (Terminal-plug cap) : 12 - 22 kn
COl UNIT
• Rem ove th e frame cove rs and seat.
• Disco nnect the COl uni t lead w ires .
Check the cont inuity and measure t he resist ance va lues w ith
a pocket tes ter.

A s capacitors, diodes, e tc. are used inside this COl unit, the resis tance values will defter when an
ohm me ter other than SUZUKI p ocket tes ter is used .
NOTE:
Rem ove the spark plug and place the spark plug on the cylinder head cover kick the engine and check
the sparks o f the spark plug.
If
no sp arking at spark plug gap, replace the COl unit or inspec t the
magneto coils, ign ition coils and spark plug. If the m agne to coils, ignition coils and spark plug checked
are correct, the COl unit m ay be fault y, repla ce the COl uni t with a new one.
