VALVE STEM RUN OUT
Support the valve with "V" blocks. as shown. and check
its runout
with
a dial gauge. The valve mu st be replaced
if
the runout exceeds the limit.
Service limit : 0 .05 mm 10 .002 in)

VALVE HEAD RADIAL RUNOUT

the dial gauge at right ang les to the valve head, and
measure the valve head radial fun out.
If it measures more than limit. replace the valve.
Service Limit : 0 .03 mm 10.001 in)
VALVE GUIDE-VALVE STEM CLEARANCE
Measure the clearance in t wo direction s. " X " and "Y" per-
pendicular to each other, by rigging up the dial g8uge as
shown. If the clearance measured exceeds the limit speci-
fied below , then determine wheth er the valve o r the guide
should be replaced to reduce the clearance to w ithin the
stand ard range:

VALVE STEM WEAR

If the valve stem Is worn down to the limit, when m easured
with
a
micrometer, and the clearance is found to be in ex·
cess o f the limit indica ted previou sly, replace the valve , if
the st em is within the limit, then replace the guide. After
replalcing valve o r guide, be sure to re·c heck the clearance .
