Dyn. Contrast
The "Dynamic contrast" setting facilitates
an automatic increase of the picture con-
trast in the event of a low level of picture
contrast.
Fine search
During the station search with a stipula-
ted symbol rate, the channels are syn-
chronised at the centre of the channel. If
this setting does not lead to a satisfacto-
ry result, fine tuning can then be set. The
search operation takes considerably lon-
ger with the fine search set.
Backlighting
The backlighting (given in %) is the basic
value that is set in accordance with the
light conditions in the room in which the
TV set is located. The basic setting
should be carried out in a dark room so
that black picture content is still black.
Image sticking
Images that remain unchanged for a
long time (several hours), such as still
pictures, result in "image sticking", i.e.
lasting shadow formation.
Such images should be avoided if at all
possible. This effect is reversible and
disappears again after a short time.
Tone settings
The tone can be set to either "Normal"
or "Speech". In the setting "Speech", the
bass and treble components of the sound
signal are set to make speech as easy to
understand as possible. The setting

"Normal" is recommended for music pro-
grams.
Volume correction
The various stations broadcast their sound
at different volumes. The TV set can auto-
matically compensate for these differen-
ces in the volume. This function remains
active even if the standard sound settings
are recalled.
Search setting
1 free-to-air programs, all non-encrypted
stations are sought.
2 all programs, all non-encrypted and
encrypted stations are sought. If a CA
module and smart card are inserted,
the corresponding encrypted stations
are released.
3 free and CICAM programs, all non-
encrypted and all encrypted [programs]
for the smart card inserted in the CA
module, are sought.
Standard values
The standard values are the settings (such
as brightness, sound volume, colour, etc.)
which are the same for all program posi-
tions.
Panorama
The panorama function can be used to
expand "normal" TV programs broadcast
in the 4:3 format to fill the full width of a
16:9 screen. This is done by expanding
the picture width accordingly.
