Before you continue, make sure that:
v You are already connected to the BladeCenter management-module Web
v You have enabled the spanning tree feature for all Ethernet switch modules
No configuration is required for the Nortel Networks Layer 2-7 GbE Switch Module
for IBM Eserver BladeCenter to enable SOL.
Notes:
v You will not be able to perform this procedure if the values for the network
v These steps require that an accessible trivial file transfer protocol (TFTP) server
Complete the following steps to update the firmware of the Nortel Networks Layer
2-7 GbE Switch Module for IBM Eserver BladeCenter:

b. Select your IBM 4-Port Gb Ethernet Switch Module for BladeCenter, labeled
Ethernet SM, and click Restart Module(s) and Run Standard

1. Obtain the latest version of Nortel Networks Layer 2-7 GbE Switch Module for
IBM Eserver BladeCenter firmware from the IBM Support Web site,
http://www.ibm.com/pc/support/.
2. Extract the firmware file in a temporary directory.
3. Copy the two image files, GbESM-AOS-x.x.x.x-os.img and
GbESM-AOS-x.x.x.x-boot.img, from the temporary directory to the root of the
TFTP server.

5. Complete the following steps to connect to the Nortel Networks Layer 2-7 GbE
Switch Module for IBM Eserver BladeCenter Telnet interface:
a. In the navigation pane, click I/O Module Tasks → Management.
b. Scroll to the Current IP Configuration section and make sure that it
contains values that are within the same subnet as the BladeCenter
management-module network interfaces (eth0 and eth1). If the values are
not in the same subnet, you must modify them before you continue. See
"Management-module configuration" on page 46 for information.
