5. Complete the following steps to restart the management module.
The management module is now enabled for SOL.

BladeCenter JS20 Type 8842 configuration

After you install the blade server in the BladeCenter unit, the blade server is
automatically configured. The blade server has built-in support for the SOL feature.
The Broadcom Ethernet controller device driver is installed after you install the
operating system. The blade server is automatically reconfigured after you install
software or hardware. IBM will periodically make firmware updates available for
your blade server. Before you continue, you can make sure that your blade server
has the latest version of firmware code. For additional information, see "Updating
the firmware code for your blade server and the service processor" on page 55.

5) Click Save; then, click OK or Yes to confirm. Do not restart the
management module.
b. Complete the following steps to configure the Ethernet I/O module network
settings:
1) In the navigation pane, click I/O Module Tasks → Management.
2) Scroll to the Bay 1 (Ethernet SM)* section.
3) Configure and save the New Static IP Configuration fields, if they are
not already correct as listed in the Current IP Configuration section.
IP address: x.xxx.xxx.xxx

v Subnet mask: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
v Gateway address: x.xxx.xxx.xxx
If any values were changed, click Save.
c. Complete the following steps to configure the Serial Over LAN settings:
1) In the navigation pane, click Blade Tasks → Serial Over LAN.
2) Scroll to the Serial Over LAN Configuration section and set the
following values:
v Set Serial Over LAN to Enabled.
v BSMP IP address range: x.x.x.x
v Set Accumulate timeout. The default value is 5.
v Set Send threshold. The default value is 250.
v Set Retry count. The default value is 3.
3) Click Save.
Do not attempt to enable or disable SOL on any of the blade servers that
are listed in the Serial Over LAN Status section.
Note: The blowers in the BladeCenter unit might become audible when the
management module restarts.
a. In the navigation pane, click MM Control → Restart MM.
b. Click Restart.
c. Click OK to confirm.
d. Restarting the management module ends the current Web-based
management and configuration program session. Click Yes to end the
session.
e. Wait approximately 10 seconds; then, start a new Web-browser session and
reconnect to the Web-based management and configuration program.
