Switching the White/Black Backing Plate (Optional) Color

Switching the White/Black Backing Plate (Optional) Color
The Spectrophotometer Unit (option) uses the White/Black Backing Plate to measure colors. Choose white (white
backing) or black (black backing) based on your particular printing application.
The White/Black Backing Plate is fragile. Do not bend or drop it.
Important
1
If the Up-down Unit is lowered, open the Spectropho-
tometer Unit Cover and lift up the central part (near the
blue label) of the Up-down Unit.
Important
2
Turn the printer off.
(See "Turning the Printer On and Off.")
Important
3
Check the selected color.
The selected color is the color where the triangle to the
left of the Spectrophotometer Eject Guide and the trian-
gle to the left of the White/Black Backing Plate meet.
4
Hold the end of the White/Black Backing Plate attached
to the Spectrophotometer Eject Guide and move it in
the direction of the arrow to release it.

Important
Lifting up the ends of the Up-down Unit may cause damage.
If you change the color of the White/Black Backing Plate while the printer is turned on, the printer will not recognize
that the color has changed.
When handling the White/Black Backing Plate, do not touch
the white backing plate (a) or black backing plate (b) directly
with your hands.
If the surface becomes dirty or scratched, the printer may not
be able to obtain the correct color measurement results.
