Improving image quality

You can improve image quality by modifying the exposure or by making use
of other special functions. This section explains how to enable and disable
automatic exposure and how to use the lighter and darker buttons to achieve
the highest possible copy quality. For your convenience, the Océ 9800 offers
four standard exposure types.

Modifying the exposure

The automatic exposure option offers exceptional copy quality for a large
variety of originals. The automatic exposure setting ensures the production of
background-free copies of most line drawings (see figure 68).

If the function 'Automatic exposure' is shown as in figure 68 above, then the
automatic exposure has already been activated.
If `Automatic exposure' is disabled, press the function button `Automatic

When copying extremely light or dark originals, or originals with varying
background density such as paste-ups, the result may not meet your
requirements (e.g. too much background). In such cases you can manually
adjust the exposure.
