I
nput Tray Cascading
Input trays that contain the identical media size, feed direction and type can be grouped together to
allow jobs to continue printing as long as media exists in at least one tray in the group. Tray groups are
established by setting the IPDS Tray Number to the identical value for all members of the group.
Receipt of the group IPDS Tray Number allows any tray in the group to be used for printing.
The priority of the group members is established by the position of the input tray in the tray map table.
The priority sequence is as follows (highest priority first): Tray1, Tray2, Tray3, HCF1 Lower, HCF1
Upper, HCF2 Lower, HCF2 Upper. The tray in the group with the highest priority defines the media
parameters required by all members of the group. The printer will ignore any tray defined in the group
whose media parameters do not match those defined for the highest priority tray in the group.
:
NOTE
Media weight is not included in the parameter set used to define an input tray group. It is
suggested to assign a different media type name, such as "Special" or "Other", to a tray
containing a media weight that is different from the other trays. This will prevent the use of
that tray if it is accidentally defined as a part of the group
