2-4 Compaq TaskSmart W2200 Appliance Server Administration Guide
Depending on the utilization of the server, a choice must be made of the five
different performance profiles. The importance of the performance profiles
reflects the ability of the server to dedicate and allocate resources for the
user's needs. Static and dynamic refer to the type of information that is kept on
the server. Static refers to information that is relatively constant on the server.
Dynamic refers to constantly changing data. The five different types of
performance profiles are:
General Purpose Web Server—This profile is designed to provide the most
efficient running Web server under unknown or general purpose use. If you
are not sure about which profile to use, then this profile provides you with a
good starting point.
Static Content Web Server - Normal Traffic—This profile works best for
websites that serve a large amount of static content to a relatively few number
of clients. If your site contains content that does not require CGI, PHP, or
mod_perl generated content, then select this profile.
Static Content Web Server - High Traffic—This profile works best for
websites that serve a large amount of static content to a large number of
clients. If your site contains content that does not require CGI, PHP, or
mod_perl generated content, then select this profile.
Dynamic Content Web Server - Normal Traffic—This profile works best
for websites that serve a primarily dynamic content to a relatively few number
of clients.
Dynamic Content Web Server - High Traffic—This profile works best for
websites that serve primarily dynamic content to a large number of clients.
The server host name can be a description or reflection of the server use. The
host name is used in the domain as the name of the server, as previously
mentioned it becomes part of the DNS.
The IP address and subnet mask must be obtained from the network
administrator. The range and use of IP addresses by a company both internally
and externally can be sensitive. The IP address for each device must be unique
for the system to function in a network.
