An IP address is divided into two parts: networks and hosts. The left-most part
of the address denotes the network. The right-most part of the address denotes
the host address on the network. The subnet mask denotes which part of the IP
address responds to the network and which part of the IP address represents
the unique host on the network. See Table B-1 for examples of addresses that
are broken into networks and the number of devices that each can support.
