Channel
A high-speed multiline connection that allows millions of bytes per second to
flow between devices.
Client
A workstation on a local area network (LAN) that utilizes the services of any
type of server in the network.
Compaq Insight Manager
A Windows-based application to monitor servers on the network. It operates
in band and can monitor an unlimited number of servers.
CSMA
See Carrier Sense, Multiple Access.
CSMA/CD
See CSMA/with Collision Detection.
CSMA/with Collision Detection (CSMA/CD)
A network access method in which contention is resolved by collision
detection. If two stations have transmitted at the same time, they both stop and
send jamming signals to tell everyone a collision has occurred. Each station
then tries again, after waiting a random amount of time.

DHCP
See Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol.
Digital
A transmission technique in which a signal is sent as an electrical on/off
impulse represented in binary as 1 or 0.
