    Rack Mount Installation Guide Enclosed Rack Mounting If you are installing the library in an enclosed rack, follow these instructions to replace the current left and right side rack mounting brackets. If you are not installing your library in an enclosed rack, proceed to Attach the Sliders on page 23. Note: You will be removing the standard rack mount brackets and replacing them with enclosed rack mount brackets.

  • Page 10 7. Using the appropriate screwdriver, loosen the screws just enough to move the gate out of the way from the robotic rack assembly (Figure 8). Some Spectra 12K libraries have three screws in the gate, and some units will not have any screws in the gate.

Spectra 20K libraries only—using the flat head screwdriver, remove the three cone head screws that hold the robotic rack to the drive slot assembly (Figure 10).

While still supporting the library door, use the #2 stubby Phillips screwdriver to attach the top hinge using the new 10-32 x 3/8-inch screws.

Use the #2 Phillips screwdriver to attach one of the sliders to the right side of the library with six 10-32 x 1/2-inch screws (Figure 32). When attached correctly, the right side slider will extend beyond the back of the unit (Figure 33).

    Rack Mount Installation Guide Prepare the Rack 1. Determine how high you want to mount the library in the rack. 2. Attach three clip-on nuts to the left side of the rack, starting at the desired height and working down. Figure 35 The top three clip-on nut locations.
  • Page 25 Rack Mount Installation Guide 7. Enclosed racks only—make sure that there will be enough room for the library door to close. Measure the distance from the adjustable mounting flanges (attached to the inside of the enclosed rack) to the outside of the enclosed rack. The distance from the enclosed rack brackets to the front of the library is 2-1/4 inches (5.72 cm).
  • Page 26 Rack Mount Installation Guide Attach the Rails You will be installing the front and back halves of the rails first, then you will connect the two halves to make one solid rail for each side. To determine the front and back of the rails, see Figure 37 and Figure 38 below.

Use the adjustable wrench and a #2 Phillips screwdriver to attach the front and back rails to each other with four countersink screws and bolts (Figure 43).     Rack Mount Installation Guide Mount the Library in the Rack 1. Align the library with the rack mount rail and set the right slider into the right rail (Figure 44). Warning: The library is heavy, weighing approximately 240 pounds (108.86 kg). You will need at least three people to safely lift and align the library.

Use the 10-32 x 1/2-inch screws (six on the left side, four on the right side), and attach them according to the numbered sequence illustrated below (Figure 46 and Figure 47).
