    3. If necessary, move the library to a location where you have full access to the front of the library. Caution: The library is heavy. Get help when moving the library. • Spectra 12K and 20K libraries weigh approximately 275 lbs (125 kg). • The Spectra 64K library weighs approximately 880 lbs (399 kg).

Remove the Robotic Rack Assembly 1. With the door opened, look at the bottom of the library where the drives are located. If there is a hinge connecting the left side of the drive slots to the back of the library (Figure 2), go to Step 2.
  • Page 8 3. Using the appropriate screwdriver, loosen the screws just enough to move the gate out of the way from the robotic rack assembly (Figure 4). • The Spectra 12K and 20K library has three screws in the door. • The Spectra 64K library has five screws in the door.

Remove the Counterweight Note: If you are replacing the rear counterweight, you need to remove the two screws attaching a cover plate to the counterweight before you can remove the counterweight. 1. Remove the eight screws attaching the gear belt to the counter weight (Figure 11). Caution: Do not let the counter weight fall.
  • Page 14 2. Locate the counterweight and its bottom right wheel as you face the rack (Figure 12). 3. Use the 5/32-inch Allen wrench to loosen the bolt attaching the bottom right wheel to the rack (Figure 13). The bolt is located directly behind the wheel on the inside of the rack. Do not remove the wheel entirely.

Remove the left wheel with the 5/32-inch Allen wrench (Figure 15). The bolt is located directly behind the wheel on the inside of the rack. Figure 15 Remove the left wheel.

Replace the Counterweight 1. Remove the new counterweight from its packaging. 2. Remove the left wheel of the counterweight and loosen the bottom right wheel before you place the new counterweight in the rack. 3. Place the new counterweight in the rack, right side first. 4.
  • Page 18 5. Adjust the counterweight so that it is aligned squarely with the rack. The bottom right wheel is the adjustment wheel. Use a screwdriver to push the wheel out until it looks aligned (Figure 18). 6. Once the counterweight is adjusted, tighten the bottom right screw using the 5/32-inch Allen wrench, and torque to 11.5 lbs/in.
  • Page 19 8. Once the counterweight is aligned properly, attach the eight screws attaching the gear belt to the counterweight (Figure 19). 9. Remove the alignment blocks holding the transport tray in place (or remove the screwdriver holding the transport tray). 10. Make sure that the counterweight and transport tray move smoothly up and down. Note: If you replaced the rear counterweight, replace the counterweight cover now.
