  • Page 13 Tally Dascom 2600 2610 Chapter 2 Sensors and Head Gap Adjustment This chapter describes the locations and operation principles of five sensors: Horizontal Position, Paper End & TOF (Top of Form), Paper Width, Head Gap and Paper Path Select. Proper adjustments ensure the printer meets the specified operation standards.

  • Page 16 Tally Dascom 2600 2610 2.1.4 Paper Width Sensor Paper Functional Description: It is a reflective opto-coupler mounted on the left side of the carriage. The dark background on the mechanism and white paper creates a reflective gradient on the sensor.
  • Page 17 Tally Dascom 2600 2610 2.2 Head Gap Adjustment Proper head gap adjustment ensures the print quality meets the specified standards. This chapter describes how to do the adjustment, which is referential for maintenance and parts replacement. The ‘head gap’ is the distance from the tip of the needles to the Print Bar.
  • Page 18 Tally Dascom 2600 2610 2.2.2 Head Gap Adjustment Some parts are required temporary removal to get a bare head gap measurement with feeler gauges: Remove:Unload the Print Head Assembly. Extract the Paper Width Sensor Assembly. Then remove the Paper Guide Carriage.

Disconnect the power cord before taking the printer apart. Unless specifically specified, reverse the disassembling procedures to assemble the parts.

Use your thumb to press against the top edge of the Upper Housing and pull the Front Cover out of the hinge on the Upper Housing.

To clean and vacuum the printer: 1) Remove any paper from the printer.

In addition, the type of lubricant used affects the performance and life of the printer, especially at low temperatures. We recommend the use of lubricants and greases as shown in the table below.
