Functions and operation

Operating principle

During the locking process, the bolt is swivelled into the locking position with high force by an electric
motor. The bolt swivels into the locking counterpart with V-shaped cut-out. This has the advantage that
the bolt can also be swung out if the locking counterpart and swing bolt are not positioned precisely in
relation to each other.

Monitoring contacts

The motorized swing bolt 842-SA1 features door recognition, so the bolt is only extended when the door is
closed. A potential-free contact signals the door status (door closed or open).
The integrated potential-free armature contact can be used to electronically monitor the locking status.
Monitoring contacts can be used to monitor the door's locking status so that an electric door drive can be
used (opens) precisely when the door is unlocked, for example. The locked signal can be used for central
building surveillance, for example.

Operating mode

The motorized swing bolt 842-SA1 can be used in fail-locked mode (locked when de-energised, no unlock-
ing option in the event of power failure) or in fail-unlocked mode (unlocked when de-energise).

Changing the operating mode

1
Use the slide switch on the connection side to set the
desired operating mode of the swing bolt:
Fail-locked
Fail-unlocked
To change the operating mode, the swing bolt must be disconnected from the power supply for at least
2 minutes after the switch.
