Analyzer System Operation
The N9912A RF analyzer operates as both a network analyzer (NA) and a
spectrum analyzer (SA). The NA functions support the CAT mode.
— The NA function supports one port measurements using the RF OUT port
— The SA function supports measurements using the RF IN port.

All N9912A RF analyzers have the same hardware. Options to increase
functionality are enabled via licenses, additional hardware is not required.

Functional Groups of the Analyzer

The operation of the analyzer can be separated into two major functional
groups. Each group consists of assemblies that perform distinct functions.
Some of the assemblies are related to more than one group, and both groups,
to some extent, are interrelated and affect each other's performance.
The major functional groups are:
