10. RAID1
10.6.6 Array Creation Function
The array creation function edits the RAID1 management information of drives and creates an
array with two drives. Use this function when restoring backup data in an offline environment
by using commercially available backup software. The offline environment mentioned here
refers to an environment started through Windows PE. In this equipment, the mirroring
processing is performed by the device driver for RAID1 running on the OS. Therefore, in an
offline environment, the drives that constitute a RAID1 are individually recognized. Thus, you
can restore the backup data to the RAID1 by applying the device driver for RAID1 to the
offline environment and using this function.
Note that this equipment supports the 64-bit edition of Windows PE for Windows 10 as the
device driver for RAID1 for offline environments. The device drivers for RAID1 are stored in
the following folder. Follow the procedure for use of the backup software you use.
Device driver for the 64-bit edition: C:¥Drivers¥SoftwareRAID1¥x64¥PE
< NOTE >
・The array creation function creates an array by writing the RAID1 management
information to the drives mounted on the equipment in a situation where creation
of a new array is inevitable. Note that if you use this function for drives that
operate normally, they will no longer be useable as the original RAID1.
・Create the array while both drives are mounted.
・After creating the array, restore the backup data with commercially available
backup software.
To use the array creation function, carry out the following procedure:
1. Open the menu window of the software RAID utility. (For details, see 10.6.2 (1).)
