While the Cavitron Handpiece Cables are designed to offer optimum flexibility and endurance, improper handling
may lead to a shortened useful life of the cable assembly, due to excessive wear on the wires and/or internal
tubing. To prevent premature failure of the cable assembly, please use the following steps:
1.
Do not wrap the cable tightly around the Cavitron system or any apparatus.
2.
Avoid overstretching or pulling the cable.
3.
If possible, minimize frequent bending/folding that exceeds normal usage during dental procedure.
4.
For detachable handpiece cables, hold by the plug body when detaching from the Cavitron system.
5.
Gently loop the cable in a continuous loose circle after each use.
O-Ring
Before placing Cavitron Inserts into the handpiece, performing the following steps will increase the O-ring life on
Cavitron Inserts:
Maintenance
Fill entire handpiece with water.
Lubricate O-ring (black or green rubber material) with water.
Gently twist the insert down into the handpiece until the insert

When the pump lavage filter becomes discolored, the
filter should be replaced to prevent reduced water low
to the Cavitron Select SPS System. A 10-pack of
replacement filters is available by ordering Part Number
90191 from your local Dentsply Sirona distributor.

Empty the contents of the Cavitron Select Reservoir
bottle and disconnect it from the pump.
2.
Remove the old filter and discard.
3.
Insert the small end of the new filter until filter is
seated.

12. Troubleshooting

Although service and repair of the Cavitron Select SPS Ultrasonic Scaler should be performed by Dentsply Sirona personnel, the follow-
ing are some basic troubleshooting procedures that will help avoid unnecessary service calls. Generally, check all lines and connections
to and from the System. A loose plug or connection will often create problems. Check the settings on the System's controls.
12.1 Troubleshooting Guide
Symptom
Solution
System operates:
Check that the Power Control knob is in the ON position, and that the detachable Power
Power Indicator Light is not on.
Cord is fully seated in the receptacle on back of the Cavitron Select SPS System.
Check that the System's three-prong plug is fully seated in an appropriate AC receptacle, and
that AC current is present.
Check that the DC power plug is properly inserted into the DC input located on the back of
the System.
System will not operate:
Check that the Foot Control Connector is fully seated in the Foot Control Receptacle on the
Power Indicator Light is illuminated
back of the System.
Check that the Handpiece Cable Assembly is fully seated in the Handpiece Receptacle.
System operates:
Assure that handpiece lavage control is properly adjusted.
No water flow to insert tip or
Check for clogged insert. Replace insert if necessary.
handpiece overheats
Check that dental office water supply valves are open.
Check to assure that liquid is available in reservoir bottle.
Check that the waterline or Pump Lavage filter is clean. Replace filter if needed.
System operates:
Check that there is no insert in the handpiece.
Purge Mode will not function –
Check that handpiece is properly installed to the cable assembly.

13. Warranty Period

The Cavitron Select SPS Ultrasonic Scaler is warranted for TWO YEARS from date of purchase. The Steri-Mate Handpiece and Cavitron
Select SPS Handpiece Cable Assembly enclosed with your system are warranted for SIX MONTHS from date of purchase.
WARRANTY STATEMENT
Dentsply Sirona Cavitron products are designed expressly for dental use, and this warranty is not applicable to other uses. The prod-
ucts are warranted against defects arising from faulty materials or workmanship from date of purchase for the period stated in the
Directions for Use manual furnished with the product. Parts will be repaired or replaced at the discretion of Dentsply Sirona.
WARRANTY TERMS
This warranty extends to Cavitron products purchased from an authorized Dentsply Sirona distributor, and only to the original
purchaser. The Warranty is subject to the following conditions:
1.
Any installation or routine servicing of Cavitron product must be performed by Dentsply Sirona Technical Support or authorized
Dentsply Sirona distributor service personnel.
2. Any warranty repair must be performed by Dentsply Sirona Technical Support Service.
3. Cavitron Systems and handpieces must not be subjected to abuse or improper installation or operation.
4. Cavitron Ultrasonic Inserts and air polishing nozzles are subject to these additional terms:
a. Inserts and air polishing nozzles must not be subjected to abuse, improper use or application, including, but not limited to,
bending and reshaping.
b. Inserts and air polishing nozzles must not be subjected to improper cleaning, disinfection or sterilization procedures.
c. Warranty will not be honored for inserts used in units other than Cavitron units.
5. The use of any inserts or air polishing nozzles other than Cavitron will void the warranty on Cavitron Ultrasonic Scalers and Air
Polishing Systems.
6. Use of an air polishing powder other than Cavitron prophy powders in the Air Polishing Prophylaxis systems will void their warranties.
There are no warranties, express or implied, which extend beyond the description on the face hereof. Dentsply Sirona neither
assumes, nor authorizes any person to assume for it, any other liability in connection with the sale or use of its products. Damages
are limited strictly to repair or replacement of parts. Dentsply Sirona expressly disclaims liability for incidental and consequential
damages resulting from the use of the products.
Claims covered by this warranty will be honored when presented through your Dentsply Sirona distributor within thirty (30) days from
discovery of defect within the applicable warranty period.
