2.5 Camshaft Position Sensor - G40- / Cam‐
shaft Position Sensor 2 - G163- , Re‐
moving and Installing
Removing
– Remove the front engine cover. Refer to
⇒ "3.4 Engine Covers, Removing and Installing", page 27
– Disconnect the connector -1-.
– Remove the bolt -arrow- and the Camshaft Position Sensor -
G40- (cylinder bank 1).
– Disconnect the connector -1-.
– Remove the bolt -arrow- and the Camshaft Position Sensor 2
- G163- (cylinder bank 2).
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
• Tightening specifications. Refer to
⇒ "2.2 Overview - Ignition System", page 67
Note
Replace the O-rings.

– Remove the noise insulation -1 and 2-. Refer to ⇒ Body Ex‐
terior; Rep. Gr. 66 .
Caution
Risk of distorting airbag spiral spring.
♦ Separate universal joint from steering gear only when front
wheels are in straight ahead position.
♦ Secure steering wheel with adhesive tape to prevent po‐
sition of steering wheel and steering gear from changing.
