– Remove the 2 bolts and then remove the steering gear heat
shield -A-.
– Remove the bolt -B- for the universal joint. Refer to ⇒ Sus‐
pension, Wheels, Steering; Rep. Gr. 48 .
– Remove universal joint from steering gear.
– Remove the bolts -2- to be able to lower the rear subframe.
WARNING
The subframe could cause an accident if it is not secured.
♦ Do not loosen the subframe bolts -1, 3 and 4-.
– Disconnect the connector -3-.

– Remove the cover -2-.

– Remove the bolt -1- and the Engine Speed Sensor - G28- .
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal.
• Tightening specification. Refer to

– Install the subframe. Refer to ⇒ Suspension, Wheels, Steer‐
ing; Rep. Gr. 40 .
– Install the universal joint on steering gear. Refer to ⇒ Sus‐
pension, Wheels, Steering; Rep. Gr. 48 .
– Install the noise insulation. Refer to ⇒ Body Exterior; Rep. Gr.
66 .
– On a vehicle with air suspension, deactivate vehicle lift mode.
