3.11 Installing the sc1000 Network System

3.11.1 sc1000 Network Connections

It may be necessary to remove an existing expansion card if sensor connectors are
obstructed.
Important Note: Do not apply excessive force when fitting and removing the compact
connectors.
1. Delete the card in the sc1000 system (Refer to
2. Remove power from the instrument. Remove the probe module cover.
3. Disconnect all cable connections to the card.
4. Remove the screws securing the card and remove the card.
Use the sc1000 network cable to set up a network. Suitable cable is available from the
manufacturer.
Each probe module has a network interface.
1. Strip the insulation from the communication cable
2. Feed the cable through the union nut, rubber seal, and connector housing

33).
3. Connect the cable to the network connector circuit board as shown in

4. Place the circuit board with the cable connected in the bottom part of the metal frame.
5. Tighten the cable connector.
6. Place the top of the metal frame on the bottom and press together.
7. Feed the frame into the connector. The frame will only fit in one position. If necessary,
rotate the frame.
8. Attach the circuit board and the frame to the front with the two self-tapping screws
provided.
9. If necessary, set the terminating resistor.
Note: When using the connector with the last module on the network segment , one union nut
remains unused. Seal the union nut with the plug supplied. Refer to
10. If this connector is the end of the network, insert the rubber seal in the connector.
11. Tighten the union nut by two turns.
