Cleaning the Printer

To keep your printer in optimum operating condition,
clean it regularly (about once a month).

Cleaning the outside

A
Remove any paper from the printer.

Make sure the printer is turned off and the screen
has turned off, and then unplug the power cable
from the electrical outlet.

Use a soft, clean cloth to carefully remove any
dust or dirt.
If there is a serious dirt problem, clean it using a
soft, clean cloth dampened with a mild detergent.
Then wipe off with a dry, soft cloth.
Note:
Never use benzene, thinners, or alcohol to clean the
printer. They could cause discoloration and
deformities.

Cleaning the inside

Perform one of the following cleaning operations if
print outs are smudged or soiled.
❏ Cleaning the roller
Perform if roll paper, rear feed, or front feed print
outs are smudged or soiled.
❏ Cleaning the paper cassette printing path
Perform if print outs from the paper cassette are
soiled or paper particles are on the print out
preventing ink from being applied in those areas.
Cleaning the roller
Follow the steps below to clean the roller by feeding
plain paper.

Turn on the printer, and load A2 or 17 inch wide
roll paper.

Press the d button.
Paper is fed as long as the button is pressed. If the
paper is not soiled, cleaning is complete.
Cut the paper after cleaning is done.

Cleaning the paper cassette printing
path
Follow the steps below to clean any soiled areas by
outputting plain paper.
A
Load A2 or 17 inch wide cut sheets in the paper
cassette.

Check that the printer is turned on, and check
that cut sheets is selected as the paper type.
C
Press the d button.
Paper is ejected from the paper cassette.
Repeat step 3 until the paper is not soiled with ink.
Cleaning inside
A
Make sure the printer is turned off and the screen
has turned off, and then unplug the power cable
from the electrical outlet.

Leave the printer for a minute.
