❏ From the printer
You can select from the following two types.
Auto Nozzle Check
Print Check Pattern
Tip:
❏ You cannot perform a nozzle check when the H
light is on.
❏ For Print Check Pattern, print with the black
ink currently selected in the printer, regardless
of the type of paper loaded.
When printing the pattern on glossy paper
with Matte Black ink, try not to rub the printed
surface as it is difficult to pigment Matte Black
ink on glossy paper.
From the computer
Explanations in this section use the Windows printer
driver as an example.
Use Epson Printer Utility 4 for Mac OS X.

Make sure that the roll paper or a cut sheet of A4
size or larger is loaded in the printer.
Make sure you set the paper source and media
type correctly according to the paper you use.

Click Nozzle Check from the Utility tab in the
printer driver's Properties (or Print Settings)
screen.

Click Print.
The nozzle check pattern is printed.
D
Check the nozzle check pattern.
If there is no problem: click Finish.
If there is a problem: click Clean.
After printing a nozzle check pattern, make sure
that the nozzle check pattern printing is complete
before printing your data or cleaning the print
head.

Buttons that are used in the following settings
A
For Print Check Pattern, make sure that the roll
paper or a cut sheet of A4 size or larger is loaded
in the printer.
Make sure you set the paper type correctly
according to the paper you use. U

Press the [ button to display the Ink Menu.

Press the d/u buttons to select Nozzle Check,
and then press the Z button.

Press the d/u buttons to select Auto Nozzle
Check or Print Check Pattern, and then press
the Z button.

Check the results.
When performing Auto Nozzle Check
After the check has completed, a message is
displayed on the screen informing you of any
clogs.
If the message Nozzle clog was not detected.
appears, press the Z button.
