A.2 SCSI Sense Key Errors
SCSI Sense Error
Description
Messages
0h - No sense
There is no specific sense key
information to report.
2h - Not Ready
The tape library cannot accept any tape
motion commands. Typically, there is no
tape in the tape drive unit addressed.
4h - Hardware
The tape library detected a
Error
nonrecoverable hardware failure during
a selftest or while performing a
command.
5h - Illegal Request
The unit detected an illegal operation
request. For example, an illegal
parameter was sent with a command or
the tape library was in the wrong mode
to execute the command.
6h - Unit Attention
Something happened that may have
changed the state of the unit. For
example, the unit was powered on, a
tape was loaded into the tape drive, or
the SCSI bus was reset.
Bh - Aborted
The tape library aborted a command

(typically operator aborted).

- Insert a data cartridge in the tape drive.
- Put the tape library under SCSI control. To do so,
select SCSI Interface under the Control Mode Menu.
Try the command again. If the error message persists,
replace the tape drive.
