Outline of CompoNet Communications
Unit
The CompoNet Communications Unit (Model:3G3A-MX2-CRT-E) is used in conjunction with a
multi-function compact inverter, the MX2-series. On the other hand, the CompoNet Communications
Unit (Model:3G3A-RX-CRT-E) is intended for high-function general-purpose inverter, the RX-series.
The CompoNet Communications Unit is an interface unit that realizes data communications between
an inverter and a CS/CJ-series Programmable Controller.
By connecting the CompoNet Communications Unit to your inverter, you can start and stop the inverter,
monitor its operation status, and change various settings from a CS/CJ-series to support a wide range
of applications.
Precautions for Correct Use
Precautions for Correct Use
Connecting the CompoNet Communications Unit disables the RS-422/485 communications
function of the inverter.
Communications Functions as if using I/O Function
In CompoNet Communications with a CS/CJ-series and inverters, the following two communications
functions can be used concurrently.
 Remote I/O
Remote I/O is a function that enables a Slave (Inverter) to exchange I/O data with the CPU Unit that
has no program running. For example, you can send inverter control inputs such as run/stop auto-
matically from the CS/CJ-series to your inverter and return the operation status, output frequency
monitor, or other data from the inverter to the CS/CJ-series.
 Messaging
Messaging is a function that enables you to use specific instructions such as CMND and IOWR in a
program to exchange data between a CPU Unit with the Master Unit and Slaves (Inverters). These
specific instructions vary depending on the CS/CJ-series model.
Unless you configure certain parameters, monitor the output frequency, output voltage, output cur-
rent, or other parameter data of the inverter, or use Remote I/O communications, you can also use
the Messaging function to send inverter control inputs such as run/stop.
The Remote I/O function of the CompoNet Communications Unit communicates via the I/O area word
address 4 to 16 of the CS/CJ-series. Because the Remote I/O function offers the basic control input and
output, frequency setting, and output frequency monitor functions, you can control your inverter as if
you were handling ordinary I/O control data.
