Intermec EasyCoder 501 S – Installation & Operation Ed. 1
Three potentiometers are situated along the top edge of the CPU
board and can only be accessed after the left-hand cover plate has
been removed. Normally, they do not require any adjustment.
• Label Stop Sensor potentiometer
This potentiometer is used in connection with the Setup option
in Intermec Shell Standard for adjusting the sensitivity of the
label stop sensor, for example according to the transparency of
various brands of liner. In most cases, it will be suffi cient to
use the adjustment method offered in Intermec Shell Standard
and by the Testfeed facility.
• Label Taken Sensor potentiometer
This potentiometer has no use because the label taken sensor is not
supported by the fi rmware of EasyCoder 501 S.
• Ribbon End Sensor potentiometer
The ribbon end sensor is situated at the rear part of the printing
mechanism. It emits a narrow beam of light and detects when
there is no more thermal transfer ribbon left to stop the light
from being refl ected back from the mirror plate. This sensor is
factory-adjusted and should normally not require any further
adjustment, except after possible replacement.
The light intensity of the emitter can be changed between two
values by means of fi tting or removing a strap on P-604 (strap
fi tted = increased intensity).
This sensor is omitted if the printer is not fi tted with any transfer
ribbon mechanism.
Before changing the setting of a potentiometer, always make sure that
the corresponding sensor is clean, free from obstructions (for example
pieces of labels or adhesive residue), and properly aligned.
