5.2 Adaptation
1) Place the longitudinal arch piece (1) in the heel container (13).
INFORMATION: To determine the placement, affix the longitudinal arch piece to a
piece of paper. Position the patient on the longitudinal arch piece and mark the con
tour of the foot using a pencil (see fig. 2). Then cut out the contour (see fig. 3) and
place it in the heel container (see fig. 4) so the end of the heel meets the dot in the
heel container.
2) Mark the position of the longitudinal arch piece in the heel container (see fig. 5).
3) Fix the longitudinal arch piece along the mark inside the heel container.
4) Insert the plantar pad (12) into the heel container.
5) Carry out an initial weight bearing test with the longitudinal arch piece and the forefoot cap
(2) in place.
INFORMATION: When the heel is under the maximum weight, use the opening cut in
the heel container to check the degree of relief provided by the brace.
6) Optional: Adapt the heel container to the individual patient using milling (see fig. 9) or heat
(see fig. 10), then widening it as necessary.
7) Optional: Secure the compensation sole (9) with the hook-and-loop closure (8) to further
increase the height of the longitudinal arch.
8) Position and then secure the plantar pad (12) in the heel area so that it maintains continual
contact with the heel.
INFORMATION: During the course of therapy, compression pads (11) are inserted
under the plantar pad according to the therapy plan and serve the gradual build-up of
weight borne by the calcaneus.
9) Mount the hook-and-loop closure and the guide loop (7) at the instep using the supplied
adjusting nuts and screws (5) (see fig. 11).
INFORMATION: The longitudinal arch piece must be removed temporarily before
mounting the hook-and-loop closure.
10) Optional: Cut the calf pad (14) to the required size (see fig. 12).
