6.2 Shortening protective cover
1) Remove the prosthesis from the residual limb.
2) Check whether the closures on the protective cover are properly fastened and that the protec
tive cover is not twisted.
3) Lay the protective cover next to the prosthesis.
4) Measure the length from the centre of the knee to the lower edge of the tube adapter on the
prosthesis (see fig. 1).
5) Mark the measured length at at least three places all around the protective cover (see fig. 2).
6) INFORMATION: For tall patients, shortening the protective cover may not be required.
7) Apply crepe adhesive tape proximally all around at the mark.
8) Use a vibrating or band saw to shorten the protective cover along the bottom edge of the
crepe adhesive tape (see fig. 3).
INFORMATION: Make sure that the closures are not shifted while sawing.
9) Deburr the cut edge.
10) Using suitable tools, remove the profile rib on the interior of the protective cover (see fig. 4).
NOTICE
Collision between protective cover and prosthetic foot
Damage to or functional impairment of the protective cover or prosthetic foot
Carry out a function test with the user wearing the protective cover.
If the protective cover collides with the prosthetic foot, shorten the protective cover again.
6.3 Protective Cover Installation
1) Remove the prosthetic foot from the tube adapter.
In doing so, unscrew the two set screws that are screwed in the furthest but are not opposite

2) Slide the distal cap over the tube adapter (see fig. 5).
3) Install the prosthetic foot on the tube adapter (see fig. 6).
4) Apply Loctite 241 to the two set screws and screw them in.
CAUTION
Improperly secured screws
Falling due to breakage of load-bearing components caused by loosened screw connections.
The set screws in the tube adapter must be secured before they are tightened to the spe
cified tightening torque.
See the knee joint instructions for use for the specified tightening torque of the set screws.
5) Remove the crepe adhesive tape from the Protective Cover after final shortening.
6) Open or remove the closures.
7) Spread open the Protective Cover (see fig. 7).
