TROUBLESHOOTING

General Troubleshooting
Your SAC Vertical Mixer is designed to receive a variety of feed material in its mixing chamber and to cut
and mix prior to unloading. It is a simple and reliable system that requires minimal maintenance.
The following section lists common problems, causes, and solutions to the problems you may encounter
with your SAC Vertical Mixer. Should any maintenacne and service be required as a result of troubleshoot-
ing, refer to the Maintenance and Service Information for assistance.

PRObLEM

Material wraps around knives.

Conveyor doesn't move.

"Dead Spot" during mixing.

Unit Requires High Horsepower.
OPERATION
REPLACEMENT PARTS
CAuSE
- Knives dull or worn out
- Insufficient oil flow.
- Cold temperatures
- Conveyor slats frozen
down
- Conveyor jammed
- Material will not mix in
certain locations inside
the mixing chamber,
commonly the front and
back areas of the mixing
chamber.
-Auger Jammed
- Knives dull or worn out
-Augers Bent
-Hay Restrictor Engagement

SOLuTION
- Check auger, remove
entangled material.
- Check knife condition.
Replace any worn, bent,
and/or damaged knives.
- Increase oil flow at
pumps by speeding
up motor.
- Warm machine before
operating.
- Check oil level in tank,
add as required.
- Clear material out of slat
pathway underneath
the conveyor assembly.
- Make sure the machine
is level when mixing.
- Check knife condition.
Replace accordingly.
- Check angling blade
condition. Replace
accordingly.
- Change mix sequence.
-Check auger for any
obstructions. Pressure
should not be greater
than 800 PSI unloaded.
- Check auger, remove
entangled material.
- Check knife condition.
Replace any worn, bent,
and/or damaged knives.
-Check augers and
ensure they are not
rubbing on the floor.
-Check augers for
bent flighting.
-Ensure Hay Restrictors
are in proper position
for ration.
