CONTROLS
To prepare to unload the material that is in the mixer, the operator will use the joystick to open the front door and
slide the conveyor out to a proper placement over the feed bunk or feeding area. The conveyor speed knob can be
adjusted anywhere from full counterclockwise to full clockwise. The conveyor apron discharge speed will vary with
engine RPM (faster engine speed will result in faster apron speed without adjusting the speed control knob).
To begin unloading the material, the operator will turn the augers on by pressing the switch on the console
armrest. The operator will also turn the discharge conveyor on with the console armrest switch. Door opening
distance, conveyor discharge speed, and auger speed are three variables that will need to be adjusted based on
the operator's preference of ground speed for unloading, the amount of material that needs to be placed per foot
of feeding area, and ration type (bulky rations require the door to be open further to allow product flow). Typically
when starting to unload, the augers should target a speed under10 RPM when they are turned on to reduce strain
on the pumps, motors, and other components of the drive system. Depending on chassis, some may not be able
to start the augers at full speed from an idle.
The operator may continue to unload the material from the mixer either in one full feeding, or by turning the
augers and conveyor on and off several times.
HIGH SPEED CLEANOUT MODE
To remove the last small amount of product in the mixer chamber in a timely fashion, the control system is
equipped with a High Speed Cleanout mode. The High Speed Cleanout mode allows the augers to turn at
maximum RPM to quickly unload the remaining feed in the mixer and to allow any material that has settled on top
of the auger or on auger flights to fall off and be removed from the mixer. To enable the high speed cleanout
mode, the operating system pressure must be below 1500 PSI on both the front and rear augers. If it is not, more
feed needs to be unloaded. The system will not allow the augers to shift to high speed if the pressure is over 1500
PSI. If the system pressure is below 1500 PSI, the operator can press the High Speed Clean icon from the
Operation screen. The augers will automatically speed up to maximum RPM (if the engine is running fast enough
to provide adequate oil flow). In high speed cleanout mode, the auger speed cannot be controlled with the auger
speed control knobs. A 5 minute limit is allowed for operating continuously in high speed. At 4 minutes, a warning
will be displayed to the operator stating that there is 1 minute of high speed cleanout time left. If the mixer is still
operating in high speed mode at 5 minutes, the system will automatically shut the augers off. While in high speed
mode, the operator has the ability to turn the augers off before the 5 minute time limit is up by pressing the
Augers On/Off switch on the console armrest, or by shifting the augers back to standard speed by pressing the
High Speed Clean icon on the display. If the operator turns the augers off when in high speed mode and restarts
the augers, the augers will restart in standard speed. The operator will need to engage High Speed Cleanout mode
again if high speed is desired.
REMOTE OPERATION MODE (Optional)
As an option, the mixer may be equipped with a Remote Actuated Mixing Control System (RAM). The RAM system
allows the operator to program up to 3 different mixing times and remotely engages the chassis and mixer at any
desired time during the loading process. The RAM System also allows the operator to program a predefined auger
speed to limit HP required during mixing based on chassis configurations.
To initially set up the HP Limiting Auger speed, the operator must access the Remote Control Settings page (Figure
5).
If, at anytime during remote mixing, the system encounters a high load for an extended amount of time, the
system will automatically decrease the auger speed to the HP Limiting RPM. By default this is set to 24 RPM. This
value will be chassis dependent and may or may not be needed based on type of ration or chassis available power.
In order for the system to decrease the auger RPM, the system pressure of either the front, rear, or both augers
needs to reach 3000 psi.
