Always keep the brake discs free of oil and grease, and clean them with brake cleaner when necessary.
Preparatory work
Raise the motorcycle with a lift stand. (- p. 10)
Main work
Press the brake caliper onto the brake disc by hand in order to push back the
brake piston.

Make sure when pushing back the brake piston that you do not press the
brake caliper against the spokes.
Remove nut
Remove chain adjuster @. Withdraw wheel spindle
rear wheel to be pushed forward.
Push the rear wheel forward as far as possible. Remove the chain from the rear
sprocket.

Protect the motorcycle and its attachments against damage by covering
them.
Holding the rear wheel, withdraw the wheel spindle. Take the rear wheel out of
the swing arm.

Do not operate the foot brake when the rear wheel is removed.
Always lay the wheel down in such a way that the brake disc is not dam­
aged.
Remove spacers
Reduced braking efficiency due to oil or grease on the brake discs.
Main work
Check the wheel bearing for damage and wear.
If the wheel bearing is damaged or worn:
-
Change the rear wheel bearing. (- p. 102)
Clean and grease the shaft seal rings

Long-life grease (- p. 217)
Insert the spacers.
