Chains do not always wear evenly, which is why the measurement should
be repeated at several locations on the chain.

Check the chain sliding guard for wear.
If the lower edge of the chain pin is at the level of or below the chain sliding
guard:

Change the chain sliding guard.

Check that the chain sliding guard is firmly seated.
If the chain sliding guard is loose:

Tighten the chain sliding guard.

New chains wear more rapidly on old, worn rear sprockets and
