Operation and service
 Fuel quality
 Load profile (thermal cycling, also number of starts/stops, emergency shutdowns)
 Gas inlet temperature
 Frequency and execution of turbine and compressor cleaning
 Turbocharger specification.
For bearing parts
 Lubricating oil quality (oil filtering, oil condition, oil monitoring)
 Load profile (speed, pressure conditions, temperature)
 Imbalance of the rotor (degree of contamination)

Stopping the engine

Stopping the engine with water-cooled turbocharger model
The heat must be dissipated from the turbocharger.
CAUTION
Allow the water cooling of the turbocharger to continue for 15 to 20 minu-
tes after stopping the engine.
Stop oil lubrication immediately after stopping the engine. Post-lubrication
is neither required nor recommended.
Post-lubrication
 Post-lubrication is not required and not recommended for water-cooled bearing casings.
 For oil-cooled bearing casings, post-lubrication is mandatory for 15-20 minutes if the turbi-
ne inlet temperature (t
– 550 °C with insulated casing
– 600 °C with non-insulated casing
At temperatures below the specified values, post-lubrication for 10 minutes is recom-
mended.
Observe the oil pressure specified for post-lubrication (see Table 5).
