7 Operation and service
The rotor and bearing parts must be checked and assessed by an ABB Turbocharging Service
Station. The following work can be carried out as preparation.
Remove the turbocharger from the engine and disassemble according to chapter Disas-

sembly and assembly. Measure clearances.
Clean nozzle ring, turbine casing, and compressor casing, and check for cracks and erosi-

on/corrosion.
7.2.5 Other service work
If a radial gas outlet casing (61001) from ABB Turbo Systems is present:

Remove the protective grid (61205) after 50,000 h and replace it with a new one.

Pre-mix gas engines
With pre-mix gas engines, replace protective grid after 20,000 h
Applications on pre-mix gas engines result in a high thermo-mechanical load
on the protective grid. To ensure proper functioning of the protective grid
CAUTION
even under these conditions, the protective grid on pre-mix gas engines
must be replaced after 20,000 h.
Replace protective grid on pre-mix gas engines after 20,000 h.

