Reverse Power Protection Circuit
If an
external RF voltage of
approxi-
mately 6
VRMS or more
is accidentally
applied
to
the
instrument's
RF
OUT
connector,
an internal
switch
in the
Programmable
Attenuator in series with
the RF output will open .
This prevents
damage to the
instrument's
Attenuator
or output Amplifier .
This open switch
OPTION 1A
will be
indicated by a flashing of the
UNLEVELED lamp on the front panel .
Once
the switch is tripped, it will latch in
the open position and remain open until
reset .
A combination of a bad mismatch,
high output level ( 0 .1 V) and changing
frequency
can also cause the Protection
Circuit to trip .
