PARK
Problem
1) With the ignition key in
position « » or «
» the
lights remain off.
2) The lights turn on, but with
the key in the START posi-
tion the starter motor does
not start or lacks power
(uncertain starting).
3) The starter motor runs but
the engine does not start.
4) The starter motor remains
on after starting and does
not disengage by removing
the key.
5) The starter motor is al-
ready engaged with the key
in the "ON" position, and is
deactivated only by remov-
ing the key.
6) The starter motor does not
run
9 - ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Probable cause
The battery does not power the
board.
Central light: 20 A fuse blown.
Side lights: 30 A fuse blown.
Battery terminals crossed.
The battery does not supply
enough current.
Uncertain mass of the battery,
or missing battery on the starter
relay or motor.
Starting conditions have not been
met.
Defect in the starter relay (you
can't hear the "click").
Starter motor failure (you can
hear the "click").
Lack of fuel supply.
Insufficiency in the ignition sys-
tem.
Mechanical difficulties in return-
ing the moving contacts of the
starter relay.
Irregular operation of the starter
motor due to mechanical or elec-
trical causes that cause greater
absorption and consequent stick-
ing of the relay contacts.
Starter block malfunctions.
Insufficiently charged battery
Badly connected battery.
20A fuse blown
Chapter
Solution
Check the connection cables.
Check the battery condition.
Replace the fuse (20 A).
Replace the fuse (30 A).
Check connections.
Charge the battery.
Check and adjust.
Check that all starting conditions
are met.
Check all micro switches and their
wiring.
Replace the starter relay.
Replace the starter motor.
Check the wiring of the carburetor
solenoid valve opening command
Check the fuel tap and filter.
Check that spark plug cap is se-
curely fitted.
Check that the electrodes of the
spark are clean and have the cor-
rect gap.
Replace the starter relay.
Check the starter motor.
Repair / replace the starter motor.
Replace the starter block.
Charge the battery.
Check connections
Replace the fuse (20 A).
