Cabinet leak test
Purpose of the test:
This test is performed to check the housing of the
safety cabinet for leakage.
Apparatus:
Pressure gauge capable of reading 0 to 1000 Pa.
Calibration of the apparatus:
The pressure gauge must be calibrated in accordance
with the manufacturer's instructions.
Auxiliary devices:
Sealing tape and plastic film, compressed air source,
leak detection foam, timer.
Test conditions:
Room temperatures of 57-68°F (14-20°C).
Install the measuring device and perform the test
measurement:
NOTE – Connection to exhaust system:
If the cabinet is connected to a facility-internal exhaust
system, the connection to the exhaust system must be
removed to allow sealing of the exhaust opening.
1. Remove the exhaust filter guard [1].
2. Seal the exhaust filter opening airtight with a
sealing plate [2] or with plastic film and sealing
tape.
3. Open the hood (see section 3.3).
4. Disconnect the plenum pressure hose from the
adapter [5] at the control box and then connect
the plenum pressure hose [6] to the pressure
gauge [7].
5. Connect the compressed air supply hose airtight
to the drain valve [4] at the bottom of the cabinet.
6. Close the front window.
7. Remove right and left guide-rail and seal front
window with tape.
