General safety instructions

The general safety instructions point out potential
hazards during repairs or inspections.
To prevent constant repetitions, the following safety
instructions are not mentioned explicitly in the indivi d-
ual sections; instead, the sections contain only refer-
ences to the general safety instructions.
Prior to repairs or inspections, read the general safety
instructions carefully.
Ambient conditions:
For repairs, the following requirements apply:
Ambient temperatures in interior rooms: 5-40°C.
Relative humidity: max. 90%.
The unit must be installed on a solid, fireproof
surface (laboratory table, support stand).
CAUTION – Contamination hazard!
The safety cabinet may be used for trea-
ting infectious substances and materials.
Therefore, the unit or parts of the unit may
be contaminated.
Observe the hygiene regulations of the
operator!
Prior to maintenance work, inquire about po-
tential infection hazards.
Toxic or infectious substances or residues
thereof must be removed completely.
Prior to inspections or repairs, make sure that
the unit has been cleaned and disinfected!
A certificate of non-objection from the opera-
tor is required.

CAUTION – Highly flammable!
Depending on the equipment, the safety
cabinet may be supplied with combustible
gases. Prior to repairs, shut off the exter-
nal gas supply.
Make sure the rooms are sufficiently venti-
lated.
If equipped, turn on the exhaust air system.
Observe the safety data sheets and the na-
tional directives.
Do not smoke in the vicinity of the gas supply
system.
Do not expose the components of the gas
supply system to excessive heat.
WARNING – Oxygen explosion!
Oxygen reacts explosively with oil, grease,
and lubricants.
Keep all connections and components of
the oxygen supply free from substances
containing oil, grease or lubricants!
Do not use cleaners containing oil, grease or
lubricants for cleaning components of the
unit.
NOTE – Usage to intended purpose :
Do not store or treat tissues, substances
or liquids in the safety cabinet that:
are flammable or explosive;
are toxic or release poison when reac-
ting with other substances.
