EXTERNAL INSTALLATION OF
THE FLOPPY DISK DRIVE
To connect your floppy disk drive externally:
1. Close all files and exit all applications.
2. Turn off power to your notebook, close the
display and remove the AC adapter.

3. Connect the MediaConnect to your
notebook. (See Installing and Removing the
MediaConnect on pages 102–103.)
4. Align the external floppy disk drive adapter
with the connector towards the MediaConnect
external floppy disk drive port with the wide
side of the connector up. (Figure 4-7)
5. Insert the connector of your adapter into
the port on the MediaConnect and push in
firmly until it clicks.
6. Orient the modular floppy disk drive with
the finger ridge away from the adapter and
the connector toward the adapter.
7. With the module connector toward the back
of the adapter align the grooves on the side
of the floppy disk drive with the tracks in
the side of the adapter. This is the same
as installing the floppy disk drive in the
Multi-function bay.
8. Slide the floppy disk drive toward the back
of the adapter and push firmly until it clicks
into place.

C A U T I O N
Be careful aligning and seating the
floppy disk drive in the adapter. If the fit
is incorrect you may damage the floppy
disk drive or the external floppy disk
drive adapter. If the module does not
move easily, remove it and check for dirt
or foreign objects. It will require a firm
push to latch the drive in place.
To Remove your Floppy Disk Drive:
1. Close all files and exit all applications
2. Turn off power to your notebook, close the
display and remove the AC adapter.

3. Squeeze together firmly on the release
buttons on either side of the adapter connec-
tor next to the body of the MediaConnect.
4. Pull the connector free.
