Problem
Your notebook won't work on battery alone.
T r o u b l e s h o o t i n g
Possible Cause
2. You are operating on battery only and have
ignored a low battery alarm until the batter-
ies are all at the dead battery state and your
machine has gone into Dead Battery
Suspend mode.
3. You have a failure of a battery.
4. Your power adapter has failed or lost it's
power source.
1. The installed batteries are dead.
2. No batteries are installed.
3. The batteries are improperly installed.

Possible Solution
2. Install a power adapter and then push the
Suspend/Resume button. (See Low Battery
State on pages 28–29.)
3. Verify the condition of the batteries using the
S t a tus In d i c a tor Pa n el ( Fi g u re 2-3 on pa ge 19),
and replace or remove any that are shorted.
4. Make sure the adapter is plugged in and
the outlet has power.
1. When the batteries are dead there will be a
beep when the power switch is turned on and
the notebook will immediately go into Dead
Battery Suspend mode. (See pages 28–29.)
Replace the battery with a charged one
or install a power adapter.
2. Install a charged battery. (See Main Lithium
ion Battery on page 99 and Multi-function
Bay Devices on page 95.)
3. Verify that the batteries are properly
connected by re-installing them. (See
Main Lithium ion Battery on page 99 and
Multi-function Bay Devices on page 95.)
