swapping". To warm-swap, have a charged
battery ready, put your notebook in Suspend
mode, remove the low battery and quickly
insert a charged battery. The NiCd bridge bat-
tery is built-in your notebook and is constantly
being charged. The bri d ge battery capac i ty is not
l a r ge ,a bo ut 3 minute s , and can va ry with the
con d i ti on of your noteboo k . (See page 26.)

introduced if the warm swap is not per-
formed quickly or a power adapter
installed.

The bridge battery can not support an
operating notebook. The notebook must
be in Suspend mode.
The main Lithium ion battery should be
removed if your notebook is not going to be
used for an extended period of time.

to dispose of batteries by putting them in the
trash.Please take care of our environment and
dispose of batteries properly. Check with your
local government authority for details regarding
recycling or disposing of your old battery, or
contact your support representative at

C A U T I O N
Removing or installing the main Lithium
ion battery with the notebook operating
may cause data loss, electric shock and/or
damage to the notebook or the battery.
To Remove the Main Lithium ion Battery
1. Put your notebook in Suspend mode or save
all files,shutdown your notebook from the
Start menu and turn off the power switch.
2. Remove the AC adapter.
3. Slide the Battery Eject button on the left side
of the notebook toward the bottom of the
notebook. (Figure 4-5.)
4. Slide the battery towards the front of your
notebook until it clears the compartment.
To Install the Main Lithium ion Battery
1. Put your notebook in Suspend mode or save
all files,shutdown your notebook from the
Start menu and turn off the power switch.
2. Remove the AC adapter.
2. With the battery connector toward the back
of the notebook align the tracks on the side
of the battery with the groves in the side of
the compartment.
3. Slide the battery toward the back of your
notebook until it clicks into place.
4.Plug in the AC adapter and charge
the battery.
C A U T I O N
If the main Lithium ion battery connector is
not fully seated, you may not be able to use
your notebook or to charge your battery.
